How to Make Free Recycled Self-Watering Plant Pots

While I wait for my free heirloom seeds to arrive from my cousin, I took a minute to make a couple free recycled self-watering plant pots to put them in. You need a 2 liter or 3 liter bottle, a pair of scissors and some potting soil. You can also use a popsicle stick or other long pointy thing but it's optional. It's incredibly simple; in fact, it's just four 1-minute steps.
My free planters for my cousin's seeds

Step 1: Cut the bottom off of a 2 liter or 3 liter plastic soda bottle about 2/3 of the way down, about 1 inch above the bottom of the label.

Step 2: Loosen the cap on the soda top so that it's loose but not all the way off.

Step 3: Turn the top part of the soda bottle upside down and sit it into the bottom half. If you have a pointy thing like popsicle stick, place it against the side of the top part of the bottle as you insert it. This keeps the top and bottom from getting stuck together and makes it easier to refill the water reservoir in the bottom.

Step 4: Fill the top part with potting soil. Plant seeds. Fill the bottom part halfway with water.

That's it. Whenever the bottom gets low on water, just lift the top off and refill it, then sit the top back onto it. Easy, free and it works great. What's better?
